CAT technology

CAT plasma systems for surface treatment enable precise, reliable and efficient processing of a wide variety of materials for optimal process results. Atmospheric plasma is used for effective cleaning and ultra-fine cleaning as well as for activation of surfaces made of metal, plastic, glass and composites. The treatment ensures proper bonding during the subsequent adhesive, printing or painting process.

Overview

In CAT technology, two arcs generate the potential-free plasma, with the counter-arc simultaneously acting as a counter-electrode. This keeps plasma formation stable even with increasing wear, making the technology particularly reliable and process-secure.

Whether for a single nozzle with treatment widths of 15–30 mm per head or several nozzles side by side for wider applications, this powerful technology offers the right solution for every energy-intensive pre-treatment. At the same time, a generator supplies up to four nozzle heads, enabling even complex requirements to be implemented efficiently.

Here, too, the use of different process gases allows specific functional groups to be created on the polymer surface, optimally preparing the surface for subsequent steps.

Scalability

The technology can be adapted to any material width by varying the number of heads. Depending on the process parameters, the plasma treatment has an effective range of 5 - 30 mm.

Process integration

The supply lines to the Plasma CAT heads can be designed in extension to the nozzle.
